Stephanie Rizaj is a visual artist who splits her time between Brussels and Vienna. Her practice ranges from performative sculptures and installations to videos, where she weaves together biomythological narratives with a critique of production conditions and power relations. Her work explores the brutality of everyday life through accompanying identity shifts, power structures, class relations, the search for collective being, and the desire to belong.
Rizaj has exhibited work internationally in various exhibitions and festivals, including Manifesta 13 Marseille (FR), Loop Barcelona, (ES), Stedelijk Museum (NL), Botanique (BE), Diagonale (AT), Dokufest (XK), Galerie 17 (XK), Galerie Emila Filly (CZ) oder Ebute-Metta, Lagos (NG). Amongst other prizes, she has been awarded the Theodor Körner Prize (AT).
